This week is Children’s Mental Health Week and during lock-down dogs are proving to be an enormous source of comfort to children of all ages when they cannot see their friends, go to sports clubs, or go anywhere for that matter.
Here are some of the top five benefits of having a dog in the family for children during these difficult times:
- Dogs are the friend that is always there for them.
- They can be active with dogs whether that be in the garden or out on a walk
- They help children to connect with nature though their love of being outside
- They give children someone to think about other than themselves
- Most of all dogs live in the moment and help us to enjoy each new day
