Coronation Treats for Our Canine Companions

The royal family has a long and well-known love of dogs. The late Queen was especially known for her love of Corgis and during her reign it is said that she owned over 30 Pembroke Welsh Corgi dear companions. Her parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, also owned this breed.

The Royal website explains that for centuries, monarchs have cared for pups of all shapes and sizes, including Corgis, Labrador Retrievers, Jack Russell Terriers, and Cocker Spaniels, it states; “Dogs have played an important role in role in the public and private lives in The Royal Family. This is reflected in a large amount of items in the Royal Collection that feature dogs. From Van Dyck’s portraits of Charles I with King Charles Cavalier Spaniels to Edwin Landseer’s paintings of Queen Victoria’s beloved dog Dash – The Royal Family’s love of dogs has long been evident.”

King Charles III also adores pets like his late mother did.

The official royal dogs, owned by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, are their two adorable rescued Jacks, Beth and Bluebell, who were adopted from Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in 2017.

In a past interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, Queen Camilla said of her love of dogs: “The nice thing about dogs is you can sit them down, you could have a nice long conversation, you could be cross, you could be sad and they just sit looking at you wagging their tail.”
