If your dog has been poorly, your vet might suggest a bland diet for a few days to help their
recovery.
Any low fat meat, in a minced form combined with rice or potatoes would work well as this
combination of fresh food is easy to digest and highly nutritious too.
Beef, chicken, pork or turkey (aim for up to 7% fat or 5% if your dog has pancreatitis) or white fish would be great options.
How much and in what proportion?
If may be helpful to make up a bulk batch of 500g of the cooked minced meat or fish with 500g of
cooked potato or rice and perhaps some vegetables (frozen cubed mixed vegetables are very
nutritious as well as being easy to pop in). This can be given little and often in three small meals. If
you have a small breed dog, you could freeze some to use in a few days.
If your dog only has a small appetite, warming the food so it smells nice can really help as we all
know dogs are ruled by their noses!
