Harry Update: Fighting Canine Liver Disease with Nutrition Consultation

Here is an update on handsome Harry, the 14 year old Lab who we introduced you to a few weeks back. Our founder and expert Canine Nutritionist Carole Sandhu advised Debra (Harry’s Pawrent) with a bespoke nutrition consultation aimed at helping Harry with his liver disease.

By following Carole’s guidance and with a lot of hard work and commitment from Debra we are delighted to report that his liver function tests have improved dramatically since Harry started his new diet. Debra has done an amazing job cooking all of his meals.  In fact they look so good in the fridge, Debras kids have asked if they can have some, not realising they are for Harry! Good Work Debra! Harry is a lucky and much loved boy!

Liver function tests tell us how the liver is doing. ALP is an enzyme found in the liver and bone and is important for breaking down proteins. Higher-than-normal levels of ALP may indicate liver damage or disease.

Harry’s ALP was 513 now 244. A great reduction.

Another enzyme is ALT and this helps convert proteins into energy for the liver cells. When the liver is damaged, ALT is released into the bloodstream and levels increase.

Harry’s ALT was 716 now 212. Another fantastic result. Achieved through diet!

In fact, these results are even lower than when he first started with this condition back in July 2020.

We are so happy for Harry and Debra! A super success story for Canine Nutrition and show of true love for canine companions.
