Local dog food brand in quest for healthier dogs

Following the successful launch of Dogs Delight – a premium range of grain free superfoods and delicious recipes as well as hand-made biscuits and treats – in August, owner and renowned canine nutritionist, Carole Sandhu, is keen to spread the word about healthy eating and a balanced diet for dogs.

With the news dominated by Covid-19 and the importance of staying safe, it is easy for messages about canine nutrition and the care for pets to get side- lined, yet pets have been an enormous source of comfort and company for many people during lockdown, especially elderly people living on their own.

Many dog lovers believe their pets deserve the best recipes but are not always sure what they are buying and whether the ingredients are in fact as nutritious as they seem. This was Carole’s inspiration for Dogs Delight.

Based at her bespoke bakery in Oakham, the business provides a carefully formulated range of recipes, and dogs are loving them. Carole has exciting plans to expand the business and employ more people, so that dogs in all corners of the UK are not missing out on recipes that include Salmon with Haddock Blue Whiting Sweet Potato & Asparagus, Chicken with Turkey Salmon Sweet Potato & Carrot and treats that include Apple & Sweet Potato Superfood Twists, Salmon Crunch, Beef Hearts and Cheesy Grins.

Carole said:

When my own dog became unwell, I started to look at the ingredients in his food in more detail. I became so passionate about good food for dogs I decided to make the move from human nutrition into canine nutrition. With further study I was able to work with owners and it became very clear that not only are there a lot of poor quality foods and treats on the market for dogs, there is much misinformation in the world of canine nutrition which means it can be very tricky for owners to separate the good from the bad.

She added:

This inspired me to set up my own company that offers premium quality food for dogs and hand makes treats using only the finest local ingredients developed by a canine nutritionist.

To reassure their customers, Dogs Delight can confirm that all hand-made biscuits and treats are DEFRA approved, which means the recipes are safe, and all meals contain up to 65% meat or fish. With all biscuits and treats containing less than 10% fat, it is not surprising that Dogs Delight is proving to be a popular choice in helping our furry friends to enjoy a delicious diet.

Products are available online at Dogs Delight and can also be purchased at their new Oakham premises on Saturdays (11am – 4pm). Dogs Delight is continuing to offer a 10% introductory discount for new customers.
